The producers of one of CBS' hit comedies got an early present this year: another season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, How I Met Your Mother was given a sixth-season renewal by CBS.

While most renewals and cancellations aren't announced until the early summer, How I Met Your Mother has grown into a ratings winner for the network's Monday night comedy block. It wasn't clear how many episodes the sixth-season order was for at this time.

CBS recently signed three-year deals with How I Met Your Mother creators/executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. The network had previously renewed its other Monday night comedies, Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory as well.
