The King's Speech producers Iain Canning and Emile Sherman have set up their next project with American English, teaming with producer Christina Piovesan.

The story centers on a New Jersey woman who moves to London and tries to vanquish any trace of her Jersey roots. After she becomes engaged, she risks her background being exposed when her mother comes to visit. The project is said to be a modern-day take on the British romantic comedies of the late 1990s.

Ian Iqbal Rashid (How She Move) will write and direct American English, with producers hoping to start shooting later this year. The project isn't set up at a studio at this time.
