IFC has picked up the rights to director Michael Winterbottom's latest thriller The Killer Inside Me. The acquisition is one of the last from this year's Sundance Film Festival. The film was purchased for close to $1.5 million dollars.

Casey Affleck stars as a West Texas sheriff experiencing a downward spiral in a small, boring one-cop town. He is soon thrust into the investigation of a ruthless, sociopathic murderer. Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Simon Baker, Bill Pullman, Ned Beatty and Elias Koteas also star in this adaptation of Jim Thompson's popular pulp novel. The project comes tagged with a bit of controversy due to its overtly violent and sexual nature.

The Killer Inside Me is expected to get a theatrical release before the end of the year.
