We can finally put to rest any worry that Marvel isn't going to launch it's own female-led superhero franchise. Today, during an epic Marvel movie event held at the Disney-owned El Capitan theater, the studio announced that Captain Marvel will be getting her own standalone adventure on July 6th, 2018.

Kevin Feige confirmed during the event that Carol Danvers will headline this version of the story, and that she will be trapped between two realms: Earth and outer space. This announcement led directly a second new title for the studio, which may tie into Captain Marvel...

Coming that same year will be a big screen adaptation of Inhumans, which will land on November 2, 2018. While Vin Diesel has teased that he may be joining this epic space adventure, that was not confirmed or denied during this massive announcement.

Kevin Feige didn't reveal much more than just the logo and the release date for this outer space set adventure, which has the potential to be set up in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but he did add this brief statement.

"We really do believe that Inhumans can be a franchise, and perhaps a series of franchises unto themselves. They have dozens of different power bases, they have an amazing social structure, which gives amazing character drama that we love to play with, and tons of spectacular new powers, new effects. With the 20th movie, it felt time to continue to further refine and further expand what this Cinematic Universe is all about."
