Most big-budget blockbuster movies these days go through a pre-viz animatic phase, to map out certain sequences before shooting actually begins. Iron Man 3 and Marvel's The Avengers are no exceptions, although not all of the scenes end up making it into the final movie. Storyboard artist and animatic supervisor Federico D'Alessandro posted two unused animatics from Marvel's The Avengers, featuring an early version of the climactic New York City battle scene that features The Wasp, and a discarded confrontation between Loki and Iron Man. The artist also posted a pre-viz sequence during the Iron Man 3 finale where Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) are cornered by a number of soldiers, and The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) "checks out" in an interesting fashion.
