Last month, we reported that Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain was in negotiations to star in Marvel's Iron Man 3. Yesterday, she revealed on her Facebook page, that she will not be starring in the sequel, due to an overloaded schedule.

"Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn't going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can't fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I'm so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there'll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I'm very excited to see the film when it comes out. xx"

Our report from last month revealed the actress was in talks to play a, "sexy scientist," who is just as intelligent as Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark. Shane Black is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Drew Pearce. Production is scheduled to begin very soon in North Carolina, so we may be hearing about her replacement in the near future.
