When J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot released a mysterious trailer for an unknown project entitled Stranger yesterday, many assumed it was for a movie, TV show, or video game project that had not been announced yet. While this hasn't been confirmed by the studio, it appears as though the trailer is for a novel J.J. Abrams developed alongside author Doug Dorst entitled S. It will be published on October 29, as indicated by a postcard that was sent out earlier this summer, which uses the exact same font seen in the trailers.

Here's an official description of the novel from publisher Mullholland Books.

"At the core of this multilayered literary puzzle of love and adventure is a book of mysterious provenance. In the margins, another tale unfolds-through the hand-scribbled notes, questions, and confrontations of two readers. Between the pages, online, and in the real world, you'll find evidence of their interaction, ephemera that bring this tale vividly to life."

It hasn't been confirmed yet that this Stranger trailer is actually for the book S., but we'll keep you posted as soon as we have more information. Of course, even if it is for the novel, since J.J. Abrams developed the story, it is possible that it may be adapted into a movie or TV series sometime in the near future.
