Is Vin Diesel ‘Black Panther’? the Actor Takes a Meeting at Marvel

Does Marvel want Vin Diesel as Black Panther? Out of all the actors and celebrities who interact with fans through Facebook and/or Twitter, few are as open as Vin Diesel. The Riddick star revealed on his Facebook page today that Marvel Studios has requested to meet with him.

"Marvel has requested a meeting... no idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me..."

With the amount of projects that Marvel has in various stages of development, it's hard to pin down what exactly this meeting may be for. Marvel Phase Two movies Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers 2 have not gone into production yet, neither has the only confirmed Marvel Phase Three movie, Ant-Man. Other projects in development include Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and, much further down the line, The Avengers 3.

Would you like to see Vin Diesel suit up as a Marvel superhero? Or a Marvel villain? There has been much controversy over Michael B. Jordan being cast as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four. Are they tempting more controversy by throwing Vin Diesel into the ring as African chief of the Panther Tribe of the advanced nation of Wakanda, T'Chall, aka Black Panther? Diesel was raised by a caucasian mother and African-American stepfather, and has often said that he is 'definitely a person of colour'. So why not? He actually looks like he could pull off the part. Let the controversy begin. Who do you think Vin Diesel should play in the Marvel Universe?

Vin Diesel's Riddick hits theaters on September 6, and he will likely also begin production later this year on Fast & Furious 7, returning as Dominic Torreto.

          Vin is just too...old to play T'Challa. (There, I said it.) I really like the Chadwick Boseman suggestion. Or maybe even Aldis Hodge of Leverage fame.

            Why not? If they can use blacks to play white characters, why not whites for previous;y black characters?

                @Conor-Holtz I thought Luke Cage has hair, Vin doesn't.

                  @bane5000 - Solid casting. I was hoping Marvel would go a little younger since T"Challa is supposed to be a young prince, maybe somebody like Michael B. Jordan from Chronicle.

                    @bane5000 - It's highly unlikely Snipes would be back as Blade, one because of his age, and two him and Marvel had beef during the making of Blade 3 so I doubt Marvel would ask him to come back. Also I like Michael Jai White but he would be a poor mans Blade.

                      @moviefan9482 - Same here. Hell Seth Regan on another site mention George Lucas & Disney ask him to come in for a meeting, it didn't mean they wanted him to direct Star Wars.

                          My choice for T'Challa/BP is still Chadwick Boseman { 42 film }

                          For his father T'Chaka, it's either Chiwetel Ejiofor { Inside Man, Salt and Children of Men }

                          or Djimon Hounsou { Gladiator, Constantine and Blood Diamond }

                          Also Chiwetel Ejiofor could also play Kang the Conqueror, just watch how cold of a character he can play as The Operative in the film Serenity

                            @supermanvenom ......well since marvel got the rights back, but they haven't officially said what they are gonna do with Blade or even if they gonna have Snipes come back to play him...Me best bet is for them to reboot and I can see Maichael Jai White kicking ass being Blade

                              Black Panther is a possibility but that is one out of the three other films they have announced. If Marvel is going to do a Doctor Strange movie they are going to be moving into the area of magic. I think Vin Diesel would do better as a Luke Cage type of Character.

                                @Number1Wolverine I agree, its just a meeting and Vin Diesel even says he has no idea what it is about so i don't know why the article suggest he'll be the black panther other than to just stir things.

                                  Hmmmm, I thought Marvel was trying to lend more credibility to superhero movies by choosing actors that could for the most part, um, act?

                                    lets get off subject for a moment. I was watching InnerSpace the other night and they interviewed the cast of Bitten. One of the stars wore plaid, had a beard and looked exactly like the image of Wolverine.

                                    My jaw dropped when I saw the actor in costume.

                                          Everybody needs to chill out, it's just a meeting and I highly doubt Marvel would even consider hiring Vin for Black Panther.
