Paramount Pictures will celebrate Christmas with Jack Ryan next year, issuing a December 25, 2013 release date for the reboot formerly known as the Untitled Jack Ryan Project. This action-adventure will go up against Keanu Reeves' 47 Ronin and Ben Stiller's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Chris Pine has long been attached to play the title character, who is working in Moscow as a financial analyst, before his days at the CIA. Keira Knightley will play Jack's wife, with Kevin Costner portraying his mentor, William Harper. Director Kenneth Branagh is pulling double-duty, portraying the main villain.

David Koepp wrote the most recent version of the screenplay, with Adam Cozad providing the original draft. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing with Mace Neufeld. David Ellison's Skydance Productions is co-financing the project, under its deal with Paramount Pictures. Production is scheduled to begin next month.
