James Cameron and Andrew Adamson are teaming up for a brand new untitled 3D movie that is set inside the world of Cirque du Soleil, according to Deadline. Andrew Adamson will direct using James Cameron's 3D camera system.

Cameron will produce this new project, which has already started production. They will use 3D-captured performances from different Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas and insert them as the backdrop for a mysterious world that the main character is magically transported into.

The Cirque du Soleil troupe is providing most of the funding for this 3D adventure, which is said to be more than one-third completed. Andrew Adamson, who wrote the script as well, is shooting the narrative sequences in New Zealand and has shot the Cirque du Soleil performances using James Cameron's new 3D camera technology.

A distributor will likely be found before production wraps, with several major distributors expressing interest after watching sample footage. This will be a launching pad for a series of family features with Cirque du Soleil embedded into the storylines.

It wasn't clear when they're aiming to release this 3D project and we'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as we have more details.
