James Ponsoldt, the director behind Smashed and The Spectacular Now, has signed on to helm the Hillary Rodham Clinton biopic Rodham.

He will be working from a screenplay by South Korean writer Young Il Kim, which was ranked fourth on the 2012 Black List. Set during the time of the Watergate scandal, the story will follow Hillary as the youngest lawyer chosen for the House Judiciary Committee to Impeach Nixon. She will fight to choose between a career at the White House and unresolved feelings for former boyfriend Bill Clinton, who will be teaching law in Arkansas during the timeline of the movie.

The Twilight Saga producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey plan to attach an actress to play Hillary Rodham Clinton before shopping the project to studios. While many top actresses have expressed interest in the role, the movie is still in the early stages of development.

Young Il Kim had this to say about Rodham.

"[It's about the] journey of a woman who was torn between her personal desires and her professional ambition - both literally pulled her thousands of miles apart, because Bill did not want to leave Arkansas, and she did not want to leave Washington, D.C."
