Sinister star James Ransone has joined the cast of Oldboy, replacing Nate Parker. We reported last month that Nate Parker was in talks to star, although scheduling issues forced him to drop out.

James Ransone will play a doctor who works with Elizabeth Olsen's character. The story centers on a man (Josh Brolin) who was imprisoned for more than a decade. When he is released without any explanation, he seeks revenge against his captors. Sharlto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson also star.

Spike Lee is directing from a screenplay by Mark Protosevich, with Roy Lee, Doug Davison, and Nathan Kahane producing. Production is currently under way in New Orleans.

This project marks the third time James Ransone has teamed up with Spike Lee. The actor previously starred in the filmmaker's Inside Man and Red Hook Summer.
