Jamie Foxx Revealed as Electro in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Set Photos!

This one's not being kept under wraps. Quite a few photos have flooded out of the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 set that reveal Jamie Foxx and his look as Electro. The actor has donned blue full-body make-up to play Maxwell Dillon, a lineman for an electric company who is struck by lightning while doing maintenance work, which causes a mutagenic change in his nervous system giving him control of vast amounts of energy. He is set to become one of Spider-Man's greatest adversaries. As you can see by the following pictures, he is taking on a look that is quite different from the comic books.

By request of the studio, these images have been removed.

The actor had lights connected to his dirty black hoodie that cause his face to glow. The original Electro wore a green and yellow suit, but he has been updated for a more contemporary, darker feel. This scene was shot in Times Square, which made it difficult to keep away the paparazzi, no matter how badly the filmmakers wanted to keep Jamie Foxx's look concealed.

This is what Foxx had to say about playing the character.

"I'm going to keep it close to the chest but I followed the Spider-Man comic books. And I would watch the television show growing up. It's a blessing. It's incredible. Especially for my little daughter, who is there for the make-up tests and everything. It's another testament to Quentin Tarantino because without Django, I wouldn't be doing Spider-Man.'"

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was released May 2nd, 2014.

I'm surprised that Jamie Foxx thinks that the only reason he got this role was because of Quentin Tarantino. When I read this earlier today while I was in my office at DISH, I mentioned it to a few of my coworkers, and we all feel that he got the part because of his talent. He was hilarious in In Living Color, and his acting in both Ray and The Soloist goes to show that he can go from wacky to serious like a light switch. I haven't even watched The Amazing Spider-Man, but now that I know that Foxx will be in the sequel, I've added it to my Blockbuster @Home queue that I have through DISH. They don't have due dates or late fees, so I can take my time with all the discs that I rent.

@corey it might play out well on screen but like I mentioned in another post his makeup has his lips looking huge and silly as hell. if that's how he is going to look in the movie then this is headed to hell already. his lips are not that big

Looks crappy. Looks like mr freeze. But I agree with Corey, and I'll wait and see it on screen first.

I refuse to judge based off a couple set photos. With a dab of CGI, I'm sure it'll look much cooler with completion. But until then, I won't speak a word.

@thedude-abides That would have been interesting but I would have no doubt would have loved to see Ledger return as the Joker. Hoffman I can see playing Penguin as a gentleman and not a creature like DeVito played in Batman Returns

@SherlockHolmes2009 No doubt. I was actually more excited to see Philip Seymour Hoffman play the Penguin... Really wish that'd happened.

@thedude-abides O yea, who could forget those rumors, but it would have been cool to see Harley Quinn and the Joker on the big screen together

Not a fan of the result, but I thumbed it up for the fact that they're at least trying to implement practical effects into the overly abundant CGI film.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx@ghostman If not the blueberry frost look, I would have just had him in a containment suit like Spectacular Spiderman. Regardless of the love or hate, this version looks a bit hilarious and draws comparisons from Dr. Manhattan and regrettably, Mr. Freeze

Holy cr.... Marc Webb is just butchering my childhood hero and every character in it.

By the way...Am I the only that thinks he looks a lot like Victor from 'Se7en'?
