After more than four decades, Laurie Strode has left the building. First appearing in the original Halloween film released in 1978, Jamie Lee Curtis has been playing the beloved final girl for a very long time, bringing the character across many different timelines in order to further explore her feud with Michael Myers. Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green wanted to do it once again with a new trilogy of Halloween films, starting with the 2018 sequel and culminating with this year's Halloween Ends.

Curtis isn't getting any younger and we probably shouldn't count on her returning for the next reboot in another 20 years. The Laurie Strode saga will most likely be finished with the conclusion of Halloween Ends as there are not even any plans at this time to make more Halloween films. Knowing she's saying farewell to Laurie, Curtis posted a series of photos on Instagram announcing she's finished with her work on Halloween Ends.

"Bittersweet END for me on the Halloween movies," Curtis says. "I've made great friends and have collaborated with wonderful artists on these three movies and today my part in the film has been completed and with it the END for me of this trilogy. It's all because of the fans who have always supported me and more importantly, Laurie, and the creative teams at BLUMHOUSE, TRANCAS, MIRAMAX, ROUGHHOUSE, and UNIVERSAL and my Strode Strong women, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak and Kyle Richards as well as my nemesis, James Jude Courtney."

She adds, "Here are a few images that will remind me of the wonderful time we all had. I love this crew and cast and I will miss you all. We can't wait for the fans to see the movie."

In another Instagram post, Curtis includes a video from her point of view taken as she was leaving the Halloween Ends set. It's only fitting that one of the final things she sees on her way out is a prop sign that reads, "Leaving Haddonfield City Limits."

Will Jamie Lee Curtis Return as Laurie Strode in Another Halloween Movie?

Many Halloween fans may feel that Jamie Lee Curtis will return as Laurie Strode in another movie, given that the character has already died multiple times in the franchise only to come back in a rebooted story. However, there are no immediate plans to make another film after Halloween Ends and it could be years before we get the next installment of the series. Curtis, at 63 years old, may not be interested in another taxing Halloween shoot by the time that comes around, and it's fair to treat this movie as the end of the Laurie Strode saga.

David Gordon Green directs Halloween Ends using a screenplay co-written with Paul Brad Logan, Chris Bernier, and Danny McBride. We know that Andi Matichak and Kyle Richards will also return for the film, as will Will Patton and James Jude Courtney. Maybe we'll have some more surprises as well.

Halloween Ends is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on Oct. 14, 2022.
