After making his directorial debut with Bad Words, actor-filmmaker Jason Bateman has signed on to direct and star in The Family Fang.

Nicole Kidman is attached to star in this adaptation of Kevin Wilson's best-selling book, which follows performance artist parents who sucked their kids into being a part of their work. When the adult children return home, they are forced to help their parents with one final piece, while harboring resentment over how their lives turned out because of their strange upbringing.

David Lindsay-Abaire wrote the screenplay adaptation, with QED International's Bill Block producing with Jason Bateman, Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Leslie Urdang and Dean Vanech. Production is slated to begin sometime next year.

Jason Bateman is currently shooting the comedy sequel Horrible Bosses 2.
