Jason Segel to Star in Maple Syrup Heist Comedy

Jason Segel signs on to star in an untitled maple syrup heist comedy Sony Pictures has acquired an untitled heist comedy pitch that has Jason Segel attached to star and Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) set to direct.

Family Guy writer Chris Sheridan penned the screenplay, based on a daring 2012 heist where $20 million worth of maple syrup was siphoned from 16,000 45-gallon barrels at Quebec's Federation of Maple Syrup Producers. More than 20 people have been arrested in connection with the heist, after investigators found the syrup in a New Brunswick facility. While the heist is still under investigation, it is believed that the syrup was hauled away in some type of tanker truck.

It isn't clear what role Jason Segel will have in this comedy caper, but he will also produce alongside Seth Gordon and Barry Josephson. No production schedule was given.

Jason Segel most recently had a cameo appearance in This Is the End, and he will next be seen in Sex Tape, alongside Cameron Diaz.
