Jeepers Creepers 3 Finally Moves Forward
For those who like their pederast fantasies dressed up and sold as Hollywood horror entertainment, good news: The long dormant sequel Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral is moving forward. Shock Till You Drop learned at the American Film Market this week that the once 'indefinitely delayed' thriller is back on track, and that one day of shooting is in the can.
The horror site even reached out to director Victor Salva, who, unlike Roman Polanski, is still allowed to make films in the United States despite pleading no contest to video taping sex with a minor. He had this to say about the impending franchise installment.
"There may finally be some very good news for those waiting for the third Jeepers Creepers film to go before the cameras."
It was way back in http://movieweb.com/jeepers-creepers-iii-cathedral-gets-started/July of 2008 that we first heard about the sequel. It was then that Victor Salva confirmed the title and some details of the story, which takes the bloodshed and sweaty pre-teen boy fetishes back to the Old West.
"The script, now titled Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral, is about to enter preproduction at MGM and does include a prologue in the Old West where we see how the Creeper became a frightening part of cowboy and Native American folklore. I will say that one aspect of the third film features Trish Jenner (Gina Philips from the original film), who, 23 years later, has a teenage son of her own, named Darry after her long lost brother. Trish is having a terrible recurring dream where her son meets the same terrible fate as her brother. Now a rich and powerful woman, Trish is determined to stop the Creeper once and for all."
He further went onto talk about the title.
"It is a large part of the film created especially for all our loyal Jeepers Creepers fans. The new Jeepers, Jeepers Threepers as we affectionately refer to it around here, brings back all the classic ideas of the first film, but brings them horrifyingly full circle. It also revisits characters from both films [Ray Wise from II returns, as does Creeper actor Jonathan Breck], lets us learn more about what the Creeper is and, by popular demand, reintroduces the infamous Creeper truck."
Its unclear if any of this is still included in the screenplay, or if the title is still Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral. There have reportedly been other ideas for a sequel.
The previous two films, Jeepers Creepers in 2001 and Jeepers Creepers 2 in 2003, have earned over $120 million at the box office and amassed a healthy cult following. There is no word on why it's taken so long to get third installment off the ground.
