Long gestating The Dallas Buyers Club moves an inch closer to production with the recent addition of Jennifer Garner.

Matthew McConaughey is set to topline this true-life drama about a man dying of AIDS who has six months left to live. He uses that time to start a smuggling operation that brings medicine for other AIDS patients into the US. The drama sets up a powerful treatise against the Food and Drug Administration's money hungry monopoly on Big Pharma, especially at the time of the AIDs crisis in the 1980s.

The production is also close to signing the important role of a cross-dresser, but no further information has been revealed. Hilary Swank was once attached to the project, but its long haul to the big screen saw her drop out a while ago.

Jean-Marc Vallée will direct from a script by Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack. The Dallas Buyers Club has a November 11th production start date, and will film in New Orleans.
