Joaquin Phoenix has finalized a deal to star in director Woody Allen's new untitled project, which is scheduled to begin production this July.

As is the case with most Woody Allen movies, no plot details have surfaced at this time, and it isn't known what character Joaquin Phoenix will portray. It isn't known if the project has found a studio home yet, but don't be surprised if Sony Pictures Classics picks up the movie, since the studio distributed the filmmaker's last three movies, Midnight in Paris, To Rome with Love and Blue Jasmine, which earned Cate Blanchett a Best Actress Oscar earlier this year.

Joaquin Phoenix is coming off back-to-back Oscar-nominated performances in The Master and last year's Her, and he will next be seen in The Immigrant and Inherent Vice.

Woody Allen's next film, Magic in the Moonlight, stars Emma Stone, Colin Firth, Marcia Gay Harden and Jacki Weaver, arriving in theaters July 25.
