When John Boyega was first cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in April 2014, he only had a handful of credits to his name, but he was best known for his feature film debut role in Attack the Block, a 2011 indie sci-fi thiller that was beloved by critics, but didn't make a huge dent at the box office ($1 million domestic, $5.8 million worldwide). The actor is now currently filming Star Wars: Episode VIII and he also recently signed on to star in a new untitled project from Kathryn Bigelow, but it seems the young actor is looking to team up with his Attack the Block director Joe Cornish.

Over the weekend, John Boyega revealed on Twitter that he ran into Joe Cornish and that they have already started "brainstorming" for "something new." Naturally, the actor wouldn't divulge any more details about this project, and we don't know for sure if it will ever actually see the light of day. Still, the prospect of Joe Cornish and John Boyega reuniting will certainly please fans of Attack the Block.

Joe Cornish hasn't directed a feature since Attack the Block, but he was one of the potential candidates to direct Star Trek Beyond, before Justin Lin signed on to direct that follow-up. He has also been eyed to direct high-profile movies like Kong: Skull Island, which eventually went to Jordan Vogt-Roberts and Masters of the Universe, which now has McG set to direct. The filmmaker is currently attached to direct the spy-thriller Section 6, but we don't know when that may move forward.

Most recently, Joe Cornish received story credit with Edgar Wright for their early Ant-Man script, with Paul Rudd and Adam McKay getting screenplay credit for the movie. As for the project Joe Cornish and John Boyega are "brainstorming," it's possible that it could be a sequel to Attack the Block, but we don't know for sure. Since it didn't make that much at the box office, it seems unlikely that a sequel would happen.

John Boyega will next be seen in The Circle alongside Tom Hanks and Emma Watson, and he also singed on to star in the highly-anticipated sequel Pacific Rim 2. We'll be sure to keep you posted regarding John Boyega and Joe Cornish's mystery project. Until then, take a look at the actor's tweet below.
