Actor John Goodman has joined the cast of Stephen Daldry's new drama Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

The project is an adaptation of a Jonathan Safran Foer novel, which follows the quest of Oskar Schell, a young boy who finds a key left behind by his father, who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. We reported last month that 12-year-old Thomas Horn, who won over $30,000 on Jeopardy! in October, will play Oskar. John Goodman will play the doorman in Oskar's building, who helps the young boy on his journey.

Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock have already joined the cast, with Tom Hanks playing Oskar's father. Stephen Daldry is directing from an adapted script by Eric Roth.

Production is set to start later this year, which will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
