John Wick was one of last year's biggest surprises, and quickly became a fan-favorite amongst action film enthusiasts. The film, starring Keanu Reeves as a legendary hit man who sets out to avenge the death of his beloved dog, hits Blu-ray and DVD this week. And with it comes news that directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch are planning a sequel. Which seems quite inevitable, given how well the original was received.

Speaking with movies.com, the directors confirmed that they are planning to return Wick back to the big screen guns a blazing. But it will bring some challenges. After all the movie needs to be bigger and better than the first. Explains Chad Stahelski:

"We're in development right now. We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original. It's the matter of story and how much you like the character. That's always the most important. If there's great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn't have charisma you're not going to watch it. Look at any great action star, whether it's Harrison Ford or Liam Neeson or Robert Downey Jr., pick a name, you love the guy first. Good action, bad action, you just love them in action. So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we'll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome."

The plan is to keep John Wick grounded. The director's don't want to lose sight of the character or place him in a cartoon-like environment. Though, it's unclear if Keanu Reeves has any plans to return as well. Would there even be a movie without him? Says Chad Stahelski:

"If we could work with Keanu Reeves for ten movies you'd have a really cool career."

What do you think? Are you excited to see Keanu Reeves return in John Wick 2? Or are you more looking forward to him reprising his role as Ted 'Theodore' Logan in Bill & Ted 3? Maybe John Wick was a one and done kind of deal?
