Over the weekend, Lionsgate brought Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski to New York Comic Con to unveil the first trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2, which will hit theaters on February 10, 2017. While we still don't know if the sequel will fare better than the original at the box office quite yet, it seems Lionsgate is already developing yet another follow-up, John Wick 3. What's more, director Chad Stahelski revealed that he already has some ideas, while revealing two supporting characters that will be back.

As of now, nothing is set in stone for John Wick 3, but given the buzz swirling around this sequel, it's not too surprising to learn that the studio wants to be prepared to move forward on John Wick 3, if the second installment is a hit. After the NYCC presentation, director Chad Stahelski spoke with Collider, who revealed that John Wick 3 is in early stages, while revealing who will return. Take a look at what he had to say below.

"The studio has asked us to put our heads together and see if we can come up with something. Winston's (Ian McShane) is a big part of the next one, so is Lance Reddick. We've got some ideas."

Both Ian McShane's Winston, the owner of the Continental Hotel, and Lance Reddick's Charon, the Continental's concierge, have been featured in both John Wick movies. With their involvement confirmed, it seems possible that John Wick 3 will delve deeper into the Continental's lore, but we don't know for sure. As for the upcoming sequel John Wick: Chapter 2, Chad Stahelski revealed that their initial "bad ideas" for the follow-up lead them to the story they ran with.

"When it came to coming up with a story idea, we had like ten bad ideas, and they we were like, 'f--k it,' what would have just happened the next day. Once we stopped worrying about ourselves, it was fun. Is it as good as the first one? I don't know, that's personal opinion. Did we go better in some ways? Yes. Did we explore the character more? Yes. It's better, I think, technically. Is the enjoyment better? Yes, it's there, but it's completely different."

Along with Keanu Reeves as the title character, John Wick: Chapter 2 also stars Common, Ruby Rose, Riccardo Scamarcio, Peter Stormare, John Leguizamo, Bridget Moynahan and Thomas Sadoski. Chad Stahelski, who co-directed John Wick with David Leitch, returns to direct from a script by John Wick writer Derek Kolstad. It hasn't been confirmed if Derek Kolstad will be back to write John Wick 3, but we'll have to wait for more details to surface. John Wick: Chapter 2 hits theaters on February 10, 2017.
