Johnny Depp is in talks to join Disney's adaptation Into the Woods. We reported back in October that Meryl Streep is in discussions to star as the evil witch, although a deal has not been finalized yet, with talks still ongoing.

The project is based on James Lapine's Broadway musical, which follows a baker and his wife who try to break a curse placed upon them, which prevents them from having children. Along the way, they encounter fairy tale characters such as Rapunzel, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and many more.

Rob Marshall is directing from a screenplay by James Lapine, based on his stage play. David Krane is working on the music for the adaptation, with John DeLuca producing.

If a deal is finalized for Johnny Depp, the actor would start shooting in 2014, after he shoots Transcendence and Black Mass back-to-back.
