Director Jon Favreau is being eyed as the top choice to direct the GK Films/Sony Pictures musical adaptation Jersey Boys. It isn't known if an offer has been made to the filmmaker quite yet.

We reported back in January that John Logan (Hugo) was hired to write the screenplay adaptation, based on Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice's Broadway musical Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.

The story follows the meteoric rise of The Four Seasons, lead by front man Frankie Valli. The pop group became an international sensation in the 1960s, with hit songs such as "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Walk Like a Man." There have been more that 200 performances of the musical since it opened on Broadway in 2005.

Graham King and Tim Headington are producing for GK Films, with Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons singer/keyboardist Bob Gaudio executive producing. It isn't known when production may start on this big-screen musical.
