Iron Man 2 and Cowboys and Aliens director Jon Favreau may be stepping outside the comic book genre for a bit with Magic Kingdom. Deadline reports that he is in talks to direct this new Disney project .

We first told you about the movie back in September, with Disney developing from a script by Battlestar Galactica creator Ronald D. Moore. If Jon Favreau signs on, another writer will be hired to further develop the movie with the director.

However, it doesn't seem that Magic Kingdom will be a fast-tracked project standing in the way of future comic book movies for Favreau. He will be signing a development deal with Disney for Magic Kingdom, which will allow that project to remain on the back burner while Jon finishes up Cowboys and Aliens, and it will even allow him time to direct Iron Man 3.

It wasn't clear when Magic Kingdom would go into production, although it could be quite a few years before this project is ready to go before cameras.
