Several directors are being considered for the upcoming adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, with Jonathan Demme and Matt Reeves showing the most interest, according to The Wrap.

Surprisingly, the site also reports that comedy-centric directors such as Mike White and the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs directing team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller have expressed interest in the project as well. As of now, Jonathan Demme has read the script and wants to direct the movie. There is speculatation that he may also be able to land his Rachel Getting Married star Anne Hathaway to star in this thrilling new take on the Jane Austen classic.

David O. Russell was previously attached to direct before leaving to helm Old St. Louis instead. Days later, he also signed onto direct Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are currently set to direct Sony's 21 Jump Street remake with Jonah Hill. We also reported last month that Emma Stone could star in that as well. But since she recently signed onto portray Gwen Stacy in the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot, 21 Jump Street may get pushed back. Which would allow Phil Lord and Chris Miller ample time to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies if they decided to take on the horror-romance mash-up.

Lionsgate wants to get production rolling by the end of the year. An official announcement on who will direct should be made by the end of the month.
