A former contender for the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot has signed on to a new film project. Variety is reporting that Josh Hutcherson has signed on to star in Detention.

The story revolves around a group of teenagers trying to get through their final year of high school, but they find a movie serial killer that has somehow come to life, standing in their way. The film, which also stars Dane Cook, also marks the first executive producer credit for Hutcherson.

Joseph Kahn (Torque) will direct the film from a script he co-wrote with Mark Palermo. It was said that shooting will begin next month in Los Angeles, and the film is budgeted at $10 million.
