In a long-ranging interview that covers everything from his childhood to his current slate of projects, Joss Whedon was asked if he would be interested in directing the Untitled Star Wars Boba Fett Spin-Off movie, which was confirmed in February as one of the two spin-offs in development, along with the Untitled Star Wars Han Solo Spin-Off. Here's what the director had to say.

"I can't say for sure, because that's a tasty morsel. But right now my heart doesn't go that way."

The director was also asked if he plans on taking on any other existing franchises after The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters in 2015.

"There's probably a dozen [properties I'd like to play with]. It's very important I don't do that. It's very important that we start creating new content again. We can only build on nostalgia so much before we have nothing left to build on. Before we're rebooting Spider-Man - again. It's dangerous to the culture, and it's boring to me. I squeezed in between my Avengers movies a 400-year-old play (Much Ado About Nothing). So I really need to create some new worlds."

We still have about two years until The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters, so speculating about what Joss Whedon may do after that seems like an exercise in futility.

As for the Star Wars spin-offs, Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are writing the screenplays, but no directors have been attached at this time. The Han Solo spin-off takes place between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, with Boba Fett's movie occurring between Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back.
