Robert De Niro is in talks to team up again with Silver Linings Playbook actress Jennifer Lawrence and director David O. Russell on 20th Century Fox's biopic Joy.

The plot is based on the true story of Joy Mangano (Jennifer Lawrence), a Long Island single mother who became a successful entrepreneur after selling her Miracle Mop invention. She started inventing as a teenager, and kept working on her products even while raising three children on her own. She later became a fixture on the Home Shopping Network and QVC with her numerous inventions. If a deal is finalized, Robert De Niro will play Joy's father.

David O. Russell is directing and rewriting the original script by Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids), with John Davis, John Fox and Ken Mok producing. Shooting is scheduled to begin in early February.

Robert De Niro most recently starred in Grudge Match and he had a cameo in Jennifer Lawrence and director David O. Russell's American Hustle last year. He is slated to begin production on Dirty Grandpa this coming January, before moving on to Joy directly after that project wraps.
