Prepare to see even more of your favorite superheroes on the Broadway stage. Marvel studios has been so impressed with the early reports of the work that Julie Taymor (Across the Universe) has done on Spider-Man: The Musical that they have already signed her to adapt Marvel Comic's X-Men for the stage.

According to our sources, Taymor has already sent preliminary ideas to Marvel comics, and Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada has expressed his enthusiasm for the project. "I think that [Taymor] is absolutely one of the most talented directors for both stage and screen working today. I can't wait to see how she handles the X-Men."

Even more exciting, Hugh Jackman, who appeared on Broadway a few years back in The Boy From Oz has already expressed interest in reprising his role as Wolverine on the Broadway stage. Jackman, of course, made the role famous in X-Men, and will be appearing as the mutant hero in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Anthony Stewart Head, who played Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer impressed fans with his singing in the episode Once More, with Feeling, and is reportedly in early talks to play Magneto in the Broadway adaptation.

No word on who would be signed to create the music for the show at this time, but expect an announcement soon. Marvel wants to fast-track X-Men: The Musical to the stage, and is shooting for an April 1, 2010 opening night. For more info on X-Men: The MusicalCLICK HERE
