In just a few short months, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters, setting the stage for a slew of DC Comics movies arriving over the next five years, including Justice League Part 1 (November 11, 2017) and Justice League Part 2 (June 14, 2019). We reported in July that production will begin on Justice League Part 1 in the summer of 2016, with Zack Snyder directing from a script by Chris Terrio. There is still very little we know about this superhero ensemble, but if today's report from Heroic Hollywood is to be believed, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman won't be the only female hero in the movie.

This report claims that Mera, Queen of Atlantis and wife of Aquaman (Jason Momoa) will be introduced in Justice League Part 1, before returning in Aquaman, which is set for release on July 27, 2018. Talent agencies are reportedly seeking background information on this character, although it isn't known if Warner Bros. are officially casting the role quite yet. While this report claims she will be featured in Justice League Part 1, it is uncertain if she will be part of the actual Justice League team or not.

Mera is described as "Khaleesi of the sea," which is appropriate since Aquaman's Jason Momoa previously starred in the HBO series Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo. His marriage to Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen made her "Khaleesi." In the DC Comics, Mera hailed from Xebel, an underwater colony made of of descendants of Atlantis separatists, who were exiled from the kingdom. Mera was originally sent by her people to kill Aquaman, but they ended up falling in love, and they sought to unite all of Atlantis through their marriage.

Mera has most of the same powers as Aquaman, but she also has what is known as aquakinesis, which allows her to manipulate water with her mind and create hard objects out of water, which can be used as weapons. Aquaman and Mera have also had a rocky relationship in the comics, with Mera turning against him on several occasions, forcing him to choose between her and their child. It isn't known if she will have a pivotal role in Justice League Part 1 quite yet, but it's certainly possible she may be introduced to lead into a much larger role in Aquaman.

Zack Snyder is directing both Justice League Part 1 (November 11, 2017) and Justice League Part 2 from scripts by his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice writer Chris Terrio, while James Wan (Furious 7) is directing Aquaman from a script by Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire).
