Justice League has finally found its villain. Zack Snyder is currently very deep into production on the ensemble superhero movie, his follow-up to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. We know that Warner Bros. is doing a lot to make Justice League a very different experience, and bounce back from the backlash. One thing that will change is the villain of the movie, who we already know is the alien Steppenwolf. Now, we finally learn who is playing him.

The Wrap is reporting that Game of Thrones star Ciaran Hinds, who plays Mance Rayder in the show, has been tapped for Steppenwolf in Justice League. A few months ago we reported that another Game of Thrones star Charles Dance, who played Tywin Lannister, was in talks for this exact same role. That turned out to not be true, but was at least close to the mark. Instead, it is Ciaran Hinds who now has the job of trying to take down the various members of the Justice League.

In the comics, Steppenwolf was created by legend Jack Kirby and is a relative of the villain Darkseid, who was also teased in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. He is an immortal with superhuman strength and a gifted military leader. He also survived an attack from Doomsday, the monster that kills Superman in the comics and the one that killed him at the end of Batman V Superman. Ciaran Hinds definitely seems like a guy who can pull that kind of thing off, with the help of a ton of CGI. In case you missed it, here is the official synopsis for the Justice League movie.

"Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes: Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions."

The report claims that Ciaran Hinds has already wrapped the motion capture performance for his part as Steppenwolf in Justice league. The character will reportedly be a massive CGI alien, similar to how Thanos has been portrayed in the Marvel movies. Steppenwolf has already been teased in a deleted scene from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, which featured the character while Lex Luthor was still inside of the crashed Kryptonian ship where he conjured up Doomsday.

Ciaran Hinds is used to playing an unlikable character, as Mance Rayder definitely fits that description. But Steppenwolf is a whole new level of bad. Justice League features a cast led by Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, in addition to the newly cast Steppenwolf. Justice League is set for release on November 17, 2017.
