Kate Beckinsale has signed on to star in Absolutely Anything, with Eddie Izzard, Joanna Lumley and Sanjeev Bhaskar also joining the cast.

Simon Pegg stars as Neil Clarke, a school teacher who is granted supernatural powers by a group of aliens, which give him the ability to do anything he desires, as the aliens watch from afar. He turns to his trusty dog Dennis (voiced by Robin Williams) for help, but after a string of mishaps, Neil is forced to choose between his pooch and the woman he wants, Catherine (Kate Beckinsale). No details were given for Eddie Izzard, Joanna Lumley and Sanjeev Bhaskar's characters, but the aliens will be voiced by Monty Python members John Cleese, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin.

Terry Jones is directing from a script he co-wrote with Gavin Scott, with Ben Timlett and Bill Jones producing. Production is scheduled to begin March 24 in London. Here's what Ben Timlett had to say about the casting in a statement.

"We are over the moon to welcome Kate Beckinsale to our brilliant cast. She's perfect in the role of Catherine and joins some of the best names in comedy. Terry Jones and Gavin Scott's script is laugh out loud (funny) and we look forward to bringing it to a worldwide audience."

Kate Beckinsale will next be seen in the thriller Eliza Graves.
