Kevin Smith has extended an invitation to Megan Phelps, granddaughter of Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps, to join him for a portion of the Q&A following the screening of Red State at the Midland Theater in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, March 12, 2011.

The Westboro Baptist Church previously protested Red State when it premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and plans to also picket the Kansas City show. The film features a family inspired by the Phelps family in rhetoric but not by actions.

The Red State Tour kicked off in New York City on March 5, 2011 and is visiting 16 cities around the country. The tour features a screening of Red State followed by a live appearance from Kevin Smith where he will discuss the film. Tickets are available to the general public now via Ticketmaster.
