Kim Basinger has signed on to star in writer-director Paul Haggis' new drama Third Person.

The story follows three couples living in New York, Rome, and Paris. The actress will portray the wife of Liam Neeson's character, a writer in Paris. However, this seems to contradict a report from August, that indicated Olivia Wilde is playing the wife.

Mila Kunis and James Franco are playing the estranged New York couple, while Casey Affleck and Moran Atias are playing the new couple taking a road trip through Italy. Each couple and city represent the beginning, middle, and end of a relationship.

Paul Haggis is directing from his own screenplay, with production scheduled to begin October 17 in Rome.

Kim Basinger was last seen in the 2010 drama Charlie St. Cloud.
