Warner Bros. massive Hall H panel is currently happening at Comic-Con, and while there DC Comics line-up is the big draw, they are also teasing the new King Arthur: Legend of the Sword movie. We got the first poster yesterday featuring Charlie Hunnam in action. Now, we have the full look at the first sneak peek footage.
Charlie Hunnamplays the title role in this epic action movie, wielding his iconic sword Excalibur. It's been almost exactly one year since we got our first look at Charlie Hunnam as King Arthur with the first official photos. Earlier this month, we also got our first glimpse at the villainous Vortigern, portrayed by Jude Law.
The supporting cast includes Eric Bana as Uther Pendragon, Arthur's father who was killed by Vortigern, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as Guinevere, Djimon Hounsou as Sir Bedivere, Aidan Gillen as Goosefat Bill, Annabelle Wallis as Maid Maggie and Katie McGrath as Elsa. Warner Bros. has slated a March 24, 2017 release date for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, where it will go up against Sony Pictures' sci-fi thriller Life and Lionsgate's highly-anticipated Power Rangers remake.
Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to an original King Arthur epic, a sweeping fantasy action adventure. Ritchie directs the film from a screenplay by Joby Harold and Guy Ritchie & Lionel Wigram, story by Joby Harold. The film is produced by Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman, Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Lionel Wigram, Guy Ritchie and Steve Clark-Hall. David Dobkin and Bruce Berman are executive producers.
This project has been in the works for several years, and it was almost shelved in favor of a different King Arthur movie, which never got made. Guy Ritchie was previously attached to this movie in 2010, before both the director and the studio shifted their attention to a similar project at Warner Bros. entitled Arthur & Lancelot, but that never got off the ground. This new incarnation will be the first in a proposed six-movie franchise being planned by writer Joby Harold, so we'll be sure to keep you posted with more updates.
