‘King Kong’ Animated Reboot Moves Forward at Fox

Fox is moving ahead with an animated version of King Kong 20th Century Fox is moving forward with a new animated version of King Kong by hiring Christian Magalhaes and Bob Snow to write the script.

This project will offer a fresh take on the legendary ape, by telling the story from his perspective. Mike Weber came up with the original concept and will produce.

Shawn Levy will also produce through his 21 Laps company alongside Radar Pictures' Ted Field. No production schedule was given for this new King Kong endeavor.

The last time we saw the enormous ape on the big screen was in 2005 with Peter Jackson's King Kong, which grossed $550 million worldwide. 20th Century Fox is also getting ready to unleash another ape project, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which is due in theaters on August 5.

      I already love Jackson's King Kong, I don't really care about this at all.

                      how is this an "original concept." Peter Jackson's reboot was pretty definitive from my point of view. While I loved Jackson's version this story doesn't seem like it would make a good franchise. The next few years are going to be so full of remakes and reboots it's ridiculous, especially the five versions of Snow White and the five Wizard of Oz movies. At least have them come out at different times.
