Kristen Johnston has joined the cast of the Regency Enterprises and Fox comedy Bride Wars, starring Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway and Candice Bergen. Johnston will play Deb, a self-absorbed, opportunistic fellow schoolteacher of Emma (Hathaway).

The Hollywood Reporter says principal photography is under way in Boston for the film that revolves around two childhood best friends, Liv (Hudson) and Emma, whose engagements come at the same time. Subsequent wedding planning results in them picking the same ceremony location, New York's Plaza Hotel, and because of a clerical error, the same date.

Bergen plays wedding planner Marion St. Claire. Rounding out the cast are Bryan Greenberg (October Road), who plays Liv's brother, Nate; Steve Howey (Daniel); Chris Pratt (Fletcher); Michael Arden (Kevin); John Pankow (Emma's dad); and Paul Scheer (Nicky Coo/Dr. Dance).

Gary Winick (13 Going on 30) is directing the screenplay penned by Casey Wilson and June Raphael.
