It's been a busy day for Sex and the City darling Kristin Davis, as she has signed onto headline her own comedy series for NBC entitled The Happiness Project, as well as a lead role in the upcoming sequel Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

Deadline reports that Davis will also co-executive produce The Happiness Project, which is based on Gretchen Rubin's best-selling memoir of the same name. The series will follow the New York-based writer's time spent testing theories on how to be happier in life. The book spawned a blog, which Kristin Davis became a fan of. Davis will play a character who is on a yearlong quest to become a happier person.

In Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, for which the actress just began shooting in Hawaii, Davis will play Dwayne Johnson's love interest and mother to Josh Hutcherson's character.
