Variety reports that Kurt Russell is going to play the lead high-school football coach in Freedom Films' Touchback.

Writer/director Don Handfield is going to start shooting the film this week in Michigan.

Also in the cast is Brian Presley (Home of the Brave), Melanie Lynskey (Up in the Air) and Christine Lahti (Obsessed).

In the film, Presley plays a farmer and volunteer fireman whose high school football career was taken from him when he was critically injured in a playoff game. He then gets a chance to decide if he wants to keep his current life, or the life he could have had, "when he's unexpectedly thrust back to that fateful instant that changed his life forever."

Also joining the film is popular football coordinator Mark Ellis of Sports Studio.
