Alongside the release of the latest look at Scream VI courtesy of the Superbowl TV spot, a whole host of new posters have arrived to tease the return of Ghostface. And one asks slasher fans to ‘Guess Who?’ Released via Paramount Pictures, the posters call attention to the Real 3D and Dolby releases of Scream VI, as well as teasing that the identity of Ghostface will be a mystery once again.
Taking the cast of characters and transporting them to the Guess Who? game, this latest poster puts the focus on the identity of Ghostface. A game that has been played throughout every installment of the slasher franchise. Developed by inventors Ora and Theo Coster, aka Theora Design, in 1979 and now owned by Hasbro, Guess Who? is a two-player board game where players each guess the identity of the other's chosen character. Using simple ‘yes’ and ‘no’ questions, each player must make the other eliminate their cards and thereby reveal their chosen card.
No doubt Scream VI fans will use methods of their own to attempt to work out who is wearing the infamous mask this time around.
The rest of the posters find Ghostface looming over the Big Apple, with the killer all set to take his murderous ways to the busy streets of New York City.
Scream VI is Due to Land in Theaters Next Month
Scream VI will shift the horrifying action from the Californian town of Woodsboro to New York, New York, following the four survivors of the Ghostface killings in Scream 2022 as they leave Woodsboro behind, hoping to start a fresh chapter in the Big Apple. Sadly, their hopes will quickly be dashed when someone new begins sporting the Ghostface mask and tormenting them all once again.
According to Scream VI director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, this change of scenery will result in a much more violent version of Ghostface. "We wanted to make this really different, while still having all the stuff you love,” the filmmaker explained. “Having a bolder, more brazen Ghostface was a big part of that."
Returning star Courtney Cox has also teased what the move to New York will bring to the horror franchise saying, "Bringing Ghostface to New York adds an entirely new element to the story. Taking the character out of a small town and putting them in the heart of the city that never sleeps is more terrifying than ever."
Scream VI will see several cast members from the recent reboot reprise their roles, including Melissa Barrera as Sam Carpenter, Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter, Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin. The rest of the supporting cast includes the likes of Dermot Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Devyn Nekoda, Liana Liberato, and Josh Segarra, with Courtney Cox reprising the role of series staple Gale Weathers alongside Hayden Panettiere, who returns as Scream 4 survivor Kirby Reed.
Scream VI is set to be released in the United States on Mar. 10 by Paramount Pictures.
