Universal Pictures has picked up distribution rights to Sergey Bodrov's fantasy adventure Seventh Son. The deal was made after Legendary Pictures parted ways with Warner Bros., taking the movie with them.

The film is set during a time when an evil force is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the supernatural and humankind. The story follows Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges), who had imprisoned a powerful witch named Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) years ago. She escapes her imprisonment and summons her minions to wreak havoc upon humanity. Master Gregory recruits an apprentice named Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) to assist him in bring the witch back to her former prison. The pair only have until the next full moon to accomplish the deed.

Universal has not yet put the movie on their calendar, leaving the film without an official release date. Several other Legendary projects have also been pulled off the table including the upcoming video game adaption World of Warcraft, Hot Wheels, Mass Effect and Cyber. The studio will now decide whether it will co-fiance the projects.
