According to Variety, Lexi Alexander will direct Labor Day, the Disney thriller Lauren Shuler-Donner and Michael Aguilar are producing.
The script revolves around a hotshot D.A. who gets the career-making job of prosecuting the son of an elusive crime lord. When his wife is kidnapped the attorney must ask for help from his wife's former lover, a gangster.
Labor Day was originally scripted by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris, but it was a rewrite by Christian Gudegast that hooked Alexander.
"I didn't respond to most of what was sent my way until 'Labor Day,'" she said. "This one had a classic love triangle, worked into a contemporary action film."
