‘Life of Pi’ Photo with Suraj Sharma and Richard Parker the Tiger

20th Century Fox has released the first photo from Life of Pi, scheduled for release December 21. Ang Lee directs this adaptation of Yann Martel's novel, which centers on Pi Patel (Suraj Sharma), who shares a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, a hyena, an injured zebra, and an orangutan after a shipwreck. Check out the photo, which features Suraj Sharma and the tiger, who becomes his only form of companionship.

    @dan1 The character in the novel names the Tiger because he notices the prevalence of shipwrecked figures throughout history and literature that have been named "Richard Parker."

        I remember reading this my freshman year (I'm a senior now). It'll be interesting to see how they play out the big "twist".

                I've been following this one closely for the past year or so. As much as I love Ang Lee, however, he's the epitome of hit or miss. This, I think, will prove to be an example of the latter.
