Justified star Walton Goggins has joined the Steven Spielberg biopic Lincoln.

The actor will portray Ohio Congressman Wells A. Hutchins, a Democrat who crosses party lines to vote in favor of abolishing slavery. Walton Goggins joins a cast which already includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, to name just a few.

Steven Spielberg is directing Lincoln from a screenplay by Tony Kushner, who received an Oscar nomination for writing Steven Spielberg's Munich in 2005. The project is based on the book Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Production will begin on Lincoln sometime this fall in Virginia. Walton Goggins most recently appeared on the second season of Justified on FX, and also stars in Cowboys & Aliens, due in theaters July 29.
