According to Variety, Lions Gate Films is reteaming with Cabin Fever producer Lauren Moews, this time on Zev Berman's crime thriller Borderland, which has begun lensing in Tijuana, Mexico.

Lions Gate will distrib the indie pic, a ripped-from-the-headlines tale of three Texas college seniors whose graduation trip to a Mexican border town turns into a nightmare when they run into an ancient human-sacrifice cult.

Berman, who also directed Plain Dirty for Moews' Tonic Films, penned the Borderland script with Eric Poppen.

Moews is producing the pic under the Tonic Films shingle along with Randall Emmett and George Furla's Emmett/Furla Films, Freedom Films and Elisa Salinas of Tau Prods.

Brian Presley, Rider Strong and Jake Muxworthy star.
