According to Home Media Retailing, Lionsgate has some pretty interesting ideas for the upcoming DVD release of their comedy, Waiting.

For starters, Lionsgate is going to have the actors doing a commentary track that is “superimposed” over the film. Viewers will be able to access this and a bevy of other supplemental materials by “clicking” on a “hotdog” icon that will appear throughout the movie.

According to Lionsgate brand manager, Tim Pruitt, “We felt [ Waiting…] is a movie like Clerks and Office Space with a cult following, and we wanted to do something that would capitalize on that... because there are so many underlining jokes and the cast is so funny, there is a ton of [bonus material] to keep you entertained.”

In addition to all this, director Rob McKittrick will also be doing a commentary where he employs a “telestrator” which gives him the ability to “pause the film in real time and make notations on the screen.”

A hilarious comedy about frustrated waiters, stingy tippers and dicey food, Lionsgate Films' Waiting stars Ryan Reynolds, Justin Long and Anna Faris as young employees battling boredom at Shenanigan's, a generic chain restaurant.

Waiting is available on DVD and UMD through Lionsgate Home Entertainment on February 7th, 2006.
