‘Lone Ranger’ Confirms Tom Wilkinson as Villain Latham Cole

Tom Wilkinson will play the villain in Lone Ranger Actor Tom Wilkinson is finalizing his deal to star as villain Latham Cole in Lone Ranger for Walt Disney Pictures and director Gore Verbinski.

We reported in June that the actor was in talks for the role, but it wasn't known if he would stick around after the project was shut down in August. Disney has also closed a deal with Ruth Wilson to portray the female lead, and is finalizing agreements with Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, and Dwight Yoakam. Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp are still set to portray the Lone Ranger and his trusty sidekick, Tonto.

Gore Verbinski is directing Lone Ranger from a screenplay by Justin Haythe, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. We reported in October that production will begin on February 13, 2012.

The Lone Ranger was released July 3rd, 2013.
