Warner Bros. is resurrecting its Looney Tunes brand of cartoons for a brand new feature, with the studio hiring former Saturday Night Live cast member Jenny Slate to write the screenplay.

We reported back in May 2010 that the studio was bringing back the animated brand for a series of short films and the TV series The Looney Tunes Show on Cartoon Network, although this is the first we're hearing of a feature-length endeavor. It is said that the project will be a live-action/CGI animation hybrid, much like the most recent Looney Tunes theatrical entries, 1996's Space Jam and 2003's Looney Tunes: Back In Action.

Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are producing through their KatzSmith Productions, alongside Harry Potter producer David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford.

Although she is best known as an actress, with recent roles in Dr. Seuss' the Lorax and This Means War, Jenny Slate co-wrote and co-voiced the animated short Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, which has more than 18 million views on YouTube.
